Took my car in here for a safety because it was close by and was having to tow it until it was saftied due to my insurance company. Had just put new rotors and brakes on the car, they told me i needed new rotors. The car was driven less than 1km on the brand new rotors. They also said I needed around $1300 in repairs when the shop I had it at first said all it needed was a brake job and some work done on the e brake. Edit after reply from owner: This really shows your professionalism. I stated I took it to you because you were closer and I was having to pay to tow the vehicle. Anything over 10KM and it cost me more money. I did end up taking it back to the first place that gave me a quote. You are scam artists and rip people off more than the average mechanic. Your "Cheapest safety in town" ad on kijiji was what brought me in as I had already paid $120 for my first safety inspection and you were only $50 or something. I do like places, but generally people only give reviews when they have a bad experience. You have inspired me to go back to a few places I have visited recently and give positive reviews! However you will never get one from me. PS you should learn to spell, use proper punctuation and be a little more professional when representing your business online. Honestly I don't see 1 period at all in your reply its just one long run on sentence.

Terrible. Got in fast for the work, but they told me my car needed over $1,500 in service to be safetied. I took it to Mufflerman the same day and it passed the safety with flying colours and they said it was in "Great Shape." Funny how Richie's found so many problems. Avoid this business!

Purchased the deal on-line through Dealfind in late January. Great price, but don't expect to get your vehicle in for months. The earliest they can perform the service / cleaning -- end of July 2011!!!

In October of 2016 I took my car to Richies Automotive. They replaced the steering rack and tie rods. Driving it home I couldn’t steer properly, like I was on a bad icy road. I thought maybe they didn’t do an alignment. I was afraid to drive it far so I dropped it off at the NAPA across the street from me and they called me back right away. Tie rod ends are held onto the wheel casting with special nuts called castle nuts that have a cotter pin in them so they don’t come off. The NAPA guy showed me there weren’t any castle nuts on either tie rod! They changed a steering component and didn’t secure it to the car. Richies gave me my car back crippled. I was setup for a disaster. No wonder I thought I was driving on ice. I could have killed myself or an innocent person if I hit a bump and the tie rods had come off while driving. I would have lost control of my steering. Not only did Richies charge me $748.01 for the job of which $275.00 was labour, driving it home destroyed my steering system to the tune of $1292.66. I went to Richies several times looking for the owner, even to his used car lot at First Class Auto Sales. When I finally tracked him down he expressed disbelief that his “mechanic” did this. He suggested that NAPA cheated me. He offered no restitution at all. Not securing the tie rods is criminal. I could have killed someone. I have given Richies all of my repair business for the last 5 years and this is the way he rewards customer loyalty. Trying to kill me. Little things should have tipped me off. Things like how dirty everything and everyone is. Pat answers for any questions. The cheap shop rate is the draw. The sloppy workmanship will get you killed. After this experience I wouldn’t trust these clowns with a go cart. A note on repair costs. I took all of my auto repair business on my used, 10 year old car to Richie’s from October 2013 until I became aware in October 2016. By aware I mean to their business model. Let me explain. I went through all my old repair receipts. (Richie’s doesn’t enter odometer readings on the receipts so I made a habit of doing it myself). During this 3 years period, Richie’s replaced my front pads and rotors, and then replaced them again after 13 months (25,922km). The industry suggests they should last 48-112,000km. They lasted about half of the minimum. Richie’s replaced my rear drums and then again after 26 months (56,422km). Again about half what the industry expects. Front wheel bearings lasted 14months (34,590km) and 7months (13,739km)! Industry expectation 136-160,000km. I got a tenth? Hmm something’s wrong here. Rear struts 11 months (25,396km). Industry says 4-5 years. There is more but you get the point. Richie’s has a low shop rate and uses cheap parts. This supplies you with cheap repairs. Perfect if you want to fix your car and dump it. Not so hot if you want to keep it but it keeps you coming back. Until you become aware
