Just read the last most recent review. Same thing happened with my dad a long time ago, Says there's problems with your car that aren't there at all. He clamped a hose and told him it was something that needed to be fixed. Probably popped the engine light on I can’t remember. But my dad later saw the clamp the he put on the hose and has never gone back there. Just writing this to let other people know, because honesty is everything in business.

Got stuck near Santa Barbara driving to SF from LA after Thanksgiving. One of the injector coils blew out and the check engine light came on. Not many people service Volvos around these parts, but Dave is one of them! I called and left a message (he was out of office for the Thanksgiving holiday), and Dave called us first thing in the morning. He was able to get the car in right away for a quick fix. He was very quick, efficient, and straightforward with our problem. Also thought he had found a solution for a squeaking sound from the car that had been going on for a while, but when he replaced the engine pulley bearing that he thought was causing the problem and the squeaking didn’t completely go away, he refunded the service fee. He was able to fix the problem with our injector coil completely and fix the car back to safe driving condition in a couple of hours. Ultimately found him to be straightforward, honest, responsive, and professional. Highly recommend him.

Greedy mechanic here. Says there's problems with your car that aren't there at all. Said I needed a new timing belt and charged me $900 for it but he didn't keep the old one to show me what he replaced. Other repairs were overpriced! I won't let him work on my car again. He's a liar and a cheat. He's there to scam you out of your money. Seek repairs elsewhere.

I have been taking my cars to Dave Scholl for almost 20 years - yikes, where does time go?!! He is by far the most honest, knowledgeable mechanic I have ever known. His "bedside manner" might be lacking, but if you want a person who has integrity and knows your Volvo inside and out, this is the shop for you. His wife, who manages the store, is one of the kindest, most fun people you will ever meet - certainly making up for Dave's stoic, reserved Norwegian personality! You can trust Dave and his staff to make your ride dependable and safe without breaking the bank.

Dave was able to see me immediately after having a problem with my vehicle, found the problem and fixed it in record time, all for a very reasonable price. A knowledgeable and proficient mechanic who I will definitely visit in the future if I have any more car troubles. Thanks a ton, Dave!
