Lori at Hal’s was very helpful by investigating an alternative repair to my 2009 Honda that took the cost of the repair of $4000 down to $1000. I am a senior on a fixed income with an older vehicle, so the alternative repair made more sense. I sacrificed AC, but the vehicle in all other ways is running well. Thank goodness Michigan does not have long hot summers!

I will never go back to "Hal's Auto Clinic" now that they are owned by Detroit Garage. Predatory. Loved Hal's because they felt honest and reasonable. Since changing hands, prices have shot up. I thought it was because of Covid the last time I had work done, but now I know it's because of the new ownership, who has predatory practices. I'm used to having diagnostic charges applied to the cost labor if you have the work done. (Ford operates that way.) After trying to avoid the $101 charge by diagnosing the problem myself, I was still charged the diagnostic fee when they found a secondary problem. (The hose had disconnected from the windshield washer sprayer nozzles. They called and told me the nozzles needed to be replaced. I went ahead and had them change them, only to be charged parts and labor for replacing the nozzles on top of the $101 diagnostic charge. "We had to diagnose the sprayers," was their explanation.) This job took them no time to fix. Not to mention, they charged $151 for a $5 part. A dealership would have been cheaper. Worse yet was their attitudes. Kicking myself for not fixing the car myself. I will never go back to them, even after they offered a free oil change "next time." There will be no next time. Sad to lose a reputable source for car maintenance needs.

I was super pleased with the experience I had here at Hal's. I was having a presale inspection done on a used Toyota 4runner I was planning on purchasing from a private seller. The team did a complete and swift inspection to make sure everything on the car was in working order. Lori went over everything with me and gave me a feeling of confidence with my purchase. I went through with the purchase and 6 moths later the car is still running smooth. Thank you to the team here at Hal's in Northville.
