Had our under-factory warranty Ram 2500 to Grants Pass Lithia Service for an issue. The same afternoon, service called to say it needed to have the rear-differential rebuilt. I was told I was 24 on a parts wait list. The following morning, they called to say they misdiagnosed the issue and that I needed to have the rear differential, front differential and transfer case fluid flushed and replaced. When I questioned the need to replace those items on a personal vehicle with 32,000 miles, the Service Writer told me he wouldn't lose any sleep if I declined and that I could have my truck back. When I asked him what would happen if I gave them almost $900 for the fluid changes and the problem persisted, he told me I could appeal to Chrystler for a refund. I retrieved the truck and took it to a different Ram dealer. Within 4-hours they diagnosed it as a known issue with the limited slip system binding a bit. So, they added a small amount of Mopar "anti-friction" oil to the rear differential and resolved the issue. They specifically noted the rear differential, front differential and transfer case fluids were full, clean (not burned) and free of any metal. Unfathomable incompetence and deception by the GP Lithia service department. I did file a complaint through Lithia Cares, so we shall see if they can somehow correct this chronic issue with our local dealership.

I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF I COULD I had my 2018 Jeep Compass towed to the service department on 5/13 because it was completely dead and I had just purchased a brand new battery from them in March of this year. Once they were able to diagnose the issue (on Tuesday) they called my husband to say that it was the auxiliary battery and it would cost us $721 to have it replaced. We need the vehicle, so he said to go ahead and do the repair. In the meantime time I decided to contact Lithia Jeep in Medford as $721 for an auxiliary battery replacement seemed unreasonable. After explaining to them what was needed, the gentleman took down the last 8 digits of my VIN to obtain a quote for me. Mind you, I did not tell him that my car was currently at Lithia in Grants Pass. This gentleman called me back about 15 min later and gave me a quote for $350, parts and labor, to replace the auxiliary battery. No sooner did I hang up, and we get a call from Grants Pass that my car was ready for pick up. I explained the huge difference in price between the two Lithia Dealers. I ended up having to talk to Wes, Assistant Manager of the service department in Grants Pass. I shared the difference and told him that he needed to make a price adjustment because I was not going to pay $370 over what Lithia in Medford would charge. He told me that if I wanted my car I would pay the full amount. I asked him to have the battery removed and his response was that he could not because the work was already complete and if I wanted my car I would be required to pay the whole amount. I let him know that we would pay the ransom for my vehicle because I was taking that car and trading it in for a Toyota at the Toyota dealer the next day so we would never have to deal with them again. (My husband and I had made that decision before this current debacle because of prior issues with this service department.) This was not the first time that they overcharged for work or didn’t even do the work that we paid for. When we arrived to pick up the vehicle, we were advised that they had removed the battery and we would have to have it towed before closing or they would charge us for storage. Of course it was already after 4 pm. Fortunately, we were able to contact AAA and get it towed before both Lithia Grants Pass and Lithia Medford service departments closed. Today my vehicle is back in running condition for the price of $354.94 which we happily paid to Lithia in Medford. BEWARE! Wes’s comeback was, “I’ve been nice to you.” What I can’t stand is someone smiling to my face and stabbing me in the back. If you want quality, honestly priced repairs, I would suggest taking your vehicle elsewhere. My vehicle had an extended warranty so I felt compelled to use this service department. NO MORE.
