Disappointing Experience at North Hills Automotive I’ve been a loyal customer of North Hills Automotive. This car, for over 7+ years, has been serviced exclusively through them, but after today’s experience, I won’t be returning. This morning, I went in because I noticed a hose from my radiator was leaking. I asked them to replace it and also get a quote for shocks and struts, which I planned on replacing soon. After about an hour, I received a quote for around $500 to replace the hose and $2000 for the shocks and struts. Additionally, they informed me that the lower radiator was also leaking and would need replacement, which would cost an extra $1200, bringing the total to almost $4000. However, I was taken aback when I found out that the part to replace the hose was listed at $150 with $170 for labor, but when I looked it up from the original manufacturer, it was only $109. They also added a $100 diagnostic fee. When I questioned the pricing, I asked for the diagnostic fee to be waived, since I had already determined the hose was the issue, and for some help on the price of the part. They offered a small $40 discount on the diagnostic fee but made no effort to adjust the part price, even though I could get it for much cheaper elsewhere. When I went to pick up my car, they still insisted on charging me the diagnostic fee, despite the fact that I had never asked them to run it. Rob (the owners son) said it was “policy,” which felt frustratingly rigid. I didn’t want to argue over $60, so I paid and told them I would not be returning. I’ve always trusted them with my car, but this experience left me feeling taken advantage of. The questions I have for business like this are: What does it take to become a loyal customer in today’s business world? Is it really worth $60 to lose a customer for life? I expected better customer service and transparency, especially after all the money I’ve spent with them. Very disappointed.

Honest, hardworking crew. Their lobby and lounge area is immaculate and a very comfortable place to wait, stocked with coffee and snacks. Transparent diagnosis and pricing, without a high-pressure sales pitch. Will definitely be returning next time I need some work done!

I was having some problems my 2015 Equinox and my main mechanic for 15 years told me my engine was warped and to get rid of it. This is where NHA took over and blew out all the pipes and did some work on the engine ....about $1300 total(approximate). At that time I had 150k on vehicle, there have been minor work on road noise issues that were addressed. I now have 175k on car and now strictly oil change visits! It seems sometimes I don't express my concerns properly, but once communication is established they are great. NHA is now my go to auto service facility. Thanks Bob

This is a very SERIOUS review which I really wish I didn't have to give. My grandfather reccomed you guys because he trusted your work I have since told him that this trust is misplaced and to NEVER return. I literally could have died or been stranded due to negligence or lack of attention/care. This particular visit happened in 2023 but didn't cause issues until this week. I have taken my car to North Hills for approximately 3-4 years (since I was out of college) I have an older car things go wrong that's fine. I just want those things to be fixed it costs money, I understand. I have spent WAY more than 2x what I paid for my car fixing it. To the issue: One day I brought my car in because my car was leaking transmission fluid due to a broken line. I also had shaking while braking it happened all the time Everytime. I asked them to look at it, as well as fix the obvious. They came back and fixed my leak but never said anything about the shaking. The clean cut man at the desk when I asked about it said, "oh they looked at it it's fine." (When I told him about it I don't think he made note of it or the mechanics never gave feedback.) I'm not here to yell and scream this is serious. I don't want a refund, I don't want a discount, infact I don't even want an apology. I want this to never happen to anyone else. You guys are very busy. Always. I think that's what caused this. The issues with my car during this visit were serious and they had already spent so much time that I think they just wanted it out once they looked underneath the hood. Now besides oil/tire changes which are much more busy and are run buly much less professional/experienced people. North Hills is the ONLY shop that has seen my car for years. I moved in 2022 and my new residence isnt really close to any of your locations so I found a new shop. I had taken my wife's car to this shop and they did a great job so when I heard my CV axels clicking while turning so I went by and told them to replace them. I ALSO gave them the same task I gave you. To determine why my car shakes while breaking. Now you have driven me home when I visit but they didn't use a fleet vehicle they use MY car and they were giving it the goods and putting it through a series of tests and were very aware of the issue and asked me questions about it. I go about my business for a few days and then they give me a call. I had told them where I had taken it to you guys for the same issue while they drove me home. They said, "it's very unsafe for you to drive your car in its condition and it's sad that North Hills returned it to you in its condition." Here's a list of what was wrong ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -my strut mount was shot (serious( -i had to replace all rotors and breaks (okay precautionay.) -modular assembly -both front CVS (expected) -my cabin air filter was sucked into the duct -my control arm seals were broken and the bolts were hardly holding on, front (serious) -my engine mount was shot (serious) -the engine filter All of this besides the CVS and filter were factory and caused or contributed to the issue. And was very very very obvious according to the technicians. I trusted you and you betrayed that trust which you will never get back. My car feels brand new and is better than it has ever been. Photos of the receipt and repairs I had done this week are attached. You have my account, you can see my history. Never let this happen again. -A very concerned customer

These folks rock. I have an "older" vehicle from the 80s and they were the first shop to be able to fix the AC which hadn't worked since I bought the car 8 years ago. They've helped with ignition issues and even unclogged the AC reservoir. Their pricing is very reasonable as well. I'll keep taking my car to them for as long as they'll take it!
