Oil Exchange

Bring my navigator in to have an oil change and the guy tells me " oh you need a new engine " and refuse to do an oil change. I've only worked as a technical writer for Ford for 25 years on this engine. Real rude. So much for living in Northville for 59 years. Will not get my business ever.

I usually don't post reviews, but there was a situation with my vehicle that started at this location that almost caused me to lose my engine. I came here for the first time in February, 2024 to get the oil changed on my new (used) vehicle. This was the first time that I had the oil changed since purchasing the vehicle from a reputable dealership. I don't know much about cars so I trusted what they were doing, and didn't think I had to double check their work. I recently went back to the dealership to get a small repair done, and the service advisors noticed that my car had barely any oil left in it. They discovered that this was because whoever change the oil did not remove the old gasket from the oil filter before adding the new one. This caused all of the oil to leak out over time. I live in an apartment and park in different spots, so it is not easy for me to notice that my car is leaking oil, but it should not have even been an issue in the first place. I showed the Service Advisor Manager the receipt from when I got my oil changed and he said he has had other customers of his have issues with the same place. He said it seems to be a consistent lack of training amongst the employees. I hate to leave a negative review for any business, but this could have ended up being way worse for me, and I would hate for this to happen to any of their other customers. I did not have a problem with any of the employees during my service, I just think there needs to be more training and/or the employees need to pay more close attention to what they're doing, as this could have resulted in my engine being completely damaged. It's a really unfortunate mistake to have been made during my first experience here. I will not be back. Edit: Not sure why the owner said this was not the right location. It definitely was (I drive by it often). I originally mistyped that I came here in February 2023, but it was, in fact, February 2024. My oil light did come on in May, 2024 but luckily it just so happened to occur while it was at the dealer for something else. I got really lucky in this situation. I still do not recommend this place.

My wife had been hit on the highway, pushed into the car in front if her that dimpled her hood. We were working with the dealership to get the repairs done and were on the waiting list for parts. During that time, an oil change came due. I have been going here with all my vehicles for years, and am a local business owner. When my wife went to this place, the staff had a manager, and a “helper”. Tall guy with a long chin beard. While the manager was working with my wife, this guy gets angry that she even came in with the damage to the hood, starts being animated and swearing, calling it bull——, etc. that made her feel quite uncomfortable. The manager explained they could not perform the oil change. Fine, no problem…. But the complete disrespect shown to her, a paying, loyal customer for years, was the problem. At the same time, I was coming down Northville Road, saw my wife outside of this place and pulled in. After my wife caught me up on what happened, I walked up to the shop. I first talked to the manager, but was then “greeted “ by the troublemaker. I asked him what the reason was for his behavior and he lost his composure. He said all the things you say when you want to fight someone, telling me to f off, hurling insults, etc. I kept my composure, walked out. 5 minutes later I get a call from the manager stating the owner was involved over the incident, and that individual who had other instances of this evidently. He told me he was fired. I told him, I would hold my review, as long as that guy didn’t work with my community anymore. Fast forward about a month, it was time for my oil change. I pulled in, and guess who is now running the show. The same guy…. So now I will post to every review board of our experience and never, ever go back. As a business owner here locally, you have a trust with your community. These people are abusive and predatory towards women. Don’t take your vehicle here, just go across the street and give your business to people who deserve it
