Oxtail Auto Repair

Oxtail Auto is a true gem in the automotive repair business. Babak (the owner) was originally recommended to me by another shop which was unable to fix an issue on my 1991 GMC Syclone. The owner of the shop which referred me to Oxtail Auto told me that he was sure Babak would be able to figure out the problem and repair it. Indeed he was right. Since that time I have had Oxtail Auto work on my 1997 Honda Accord Wagon and 1991 Toyota Camry. I've also referred him to my daughter who had him replace the hybrid batteries on her 2008 Prius as well as deal with some dash and pump issues. Babak understands when you are on a budget and not looking to spend a lot of money doing a full mechanical restoration of a vehicle that isn't worth spending that type of money on. He is extremely knowledgeable and honest and has decades of experience. Next I am going to have him work on my 2016 F250 HD truck to get it ready for some heavy duty trailer towing and the work will include installing new shocks and a steering stabilizer kit as well as as running boards and a back up camera and if I'm lucky enough a used camper shell. This shows the range of his abilities and experience. I've also referred several friends to Oxtail Auto and they have all been very happy with the quality of the work and the pricing. Quite frequently he was able to beat quotes from other shops by a large margin because they were recommending repairs on stuff that wasn't wrong with the vehicle in the first place or selecting a much more costly fix. It's rare today to find a shop of this calibre. I've been in the auto business for many years and Oxtail doesn't take a back seat to any shop when it comes to honesty, accurate diagnosis and quality work at a more than fair price!

Great shop and fair prices. A different mechanic said I needed over 3000 in repairs and after visiting Oxtail I found out it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. I saved money here and would recommend this place to everyone!

Babak helped me with my leaking radiator on my golf GTI. He was very friendly and diagnosed my car quickly and had it fixed by the next day. He charged me fairly and went the extra mile helping me with my oil as well. I'll definitely be back if I ever have any other issues, and I'll recommend oxtail to all my friends and family!

New!!! There is a saying in Spanish that . second times around are never good, however my second experience with Oxtail Auto Repair Shop was even better than the first. Basicly my car was torn apart in an attempt to steal it. In this case, Mr. Babak had the opportunity to show off his knowledge, mechanical skills, as well as his art of diplomacy in dealing with the insurance company as the repairs were well over $11,000. As soon as the funding arrived from the insurance company, Mr. Babak, went quickly to work essentially rebuilding my car from the ground up. Now my little 2020 Hyundai Tucson is back on the road and incredibly so—- as good as new. Once again, I cannot sing enough and most well earned and deserved praises to Mr. Babak, as an extremely knowledgeable mechanic, and very hard working and honest man in his profession, in Oxtail Auto Repair Shop on Topham Street in Tarzana. Mr. Babak is a very fine gentleman, as well as an excellent, knowledgeable. and so importantly honest car mechanic. I arrived at his garage as a widow, alone, and nursing a broken hip, and instead of being preyed upon, as a solitary women, in a galaxy of automobile repair, which so often occurs. I was given, gratefully, a chair to sit upon, and then, even with more appreciation a ride, by Mr.Babak himself, to the door of my own home. The turn-around of the repairs on my car were done in less than 24 hours, and were performed both seamlessly and effortlessly. I would wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Babak’s mechanical car service to anyone seeking a new car repair shop experience, as I too was a first time customer of his. Also the “All American” private towing, service, which Mr. Babak offers is in line with Mr. Babak’s own expertise. That is to say it is efficient, reliable and affordable.

I called up to find out how much it would cost for an oil change and to have a trailer hitch installed on my car. The guy quotes me like 50-60 for the oil change. When I asked about the trailer hitch he said like 30. When i get there, I showed him the trailer hitch and he claims it would cost $150 to install the trailer hitch. He says there was a miscommunication and says the 30 was for the oil change if I brought my own supplies for the job. It is a matter of screwing on some bolts in. The job requires 3 sockets and I do not have 2 of them. It is not a hard task to get done, you just need the right tools. The fact that he would try and charge $150 shows the type of business man he is.
