SCAMMERS. EVEN WORSE than I first thought. So, I had an oil change just 16 days ago. My engine could be ruined. It was sounding funny and I checked the oil today. ALMOST BONE DRY. There's no way my car lost 5 qts of oil in two weeks. I've only driven 400 miles. I took it to a different place and they said my oil filter was loose! If my engine fails, I will be suing them for a new car. PepBoys tries to take advantage of female customers, assuming we don't know anything about cars. This morning they tried to convince me I needed to replace my air filter for an outrageous $47.98 and cabin filter for $52.98! I had replaced both in August for $23.83 total. It took a total of three minutes to do myself. You only have to replace these once a year or every 12k miles. I've only driven 3k miles since swapping them out. When I got back to where I'm staying, I opened the hood and unclipped the cover to the engine air filter to examine it. The thing still looks almost new! On top of that, I asked them to examine the rear suspension coil springs because they look very old and my car sounds like a haunted house door when I go over speed bumps. They claimed that the mechanic "Russell" allegedly took the car for a test drive and didn't hear anything. That's a 100% lie. I kept my eye on the car the whole time. He never took it on a test drive. When I confronted them with that, they modified the response to say he drove it over speed bumps in the parking lot and didn't hear anything. That's also a lie. The only time he drove my car was pulling it out of the bay and to the front door. The minute I left and drove down the street and went over a speed bump, guess what? The creak was there. So they're liars and scammers. Shame on PepBoys. This is now the third bad experience at a Pep Boys. I am done with that chain for good. Integrity matters. They may be $10 cheaper but they're dishonest.
