I accidentally left my car parked in a tow zone over night (totally my fault and own that). However, the process of getting my car back was ridiculous. It happened on a Sunday and when I tried to immediately go and retrieve my car, they said if I wanted to get it I would need to be an extra $150 since it’s the weekend. I explained I don’t want to pay an extra day fee, and on google it simply shows they are open. They told me Sunday would not count as an extra day and it would simply be cheaper to wait and pick it up on Monday. So I do that, get there first thing Monday morning. Turns out they charged me for 2 full days anyway, plus $150 release fee just to actually get my car out of the lot. For my car being there for not even 24 hours, it cost me $650. Only $300 was the actually tow charge. And the rest was just nonsense fees they added on. I understand needing to pay a fee and all that, but that is extremely excessive compared to other tow yard rates. Highway Robbery.

My friend just had her car towed via AAA. The driver was nice but I guess he forgot to collect the money when he left. When the driver called to collect the money, my roommate said yes, but just give her an invoice so she could have a record. He refused and told her he would go back to where she lives and collect the cash. My friend got sacred cos the driver sounded frantic. She then called AAA, told AAA what happened, and they transferred her to the main towing office to pay. First, they were hurried to collect instead of apologizing the experience, then the operator went on and said they would go back to the house again to collect or it would be out of the driver's pocket. She paid, of course, but they didn't listen to her when she told them that it's not ok for a grown man to go to a woman house and try to collect when she clearly said, she would paid just give ger an invoice. This place is clearly disillusioned if they think it is ok to have grown men sounding frantic to go back to where a woman lives and knock on the door to collect. People who have AAA and are generally prepared, all she did was to ask for an invoice, but this place refused. She had to call AAA to sort it out. AAA - great customer service Preferred towing - not so much , have a friend with you for safety precaution.

Preferred towing has always been the kindest tow company I've dealt with. I called in the other day and the woman on the phone was honest and helpful

These people were life savers last week when our car broke down on the side of the fwy and aaa was giving us a hard time. Brianna helped us over the phone and Mark was super helpful, quick and friendly with the tow. These are good people. Will gladly support in the future.

My car was flooded due to the rain yesterday around 1:30 PM at Dana point and wouldn't start. I called the dealer and they said they will send a tow truck by 5 but the police said they can't allow us wait that long so called their own tow truck company which have a relationship with(Preferred towing). They have charged me $500 for one night of storage and 5 miles of towing. Not sure if there is any kind of conspiracy going on between them but this is such a HUGE rip off!!! Stay away from proffered towing. Very disappointing experience.
