Victory Lane Quick Oil Change (Jackson, Laurence Ave)

This is the only place I’ll get my oil changed. The guys are very good at communicating and make sure things are done the right way. Andrew really knows what he’s doing.

Stopped in for an oil change on a Friday afternoon. It was busy - I had stopped by 2 other instant oil change places before this one but the lines were long. At the other places, they had someone come out to greet new cars in line and give a time estimate on the wait. Here, there was one car in each bay and one car waiting in front of each bay, then me. My wait was about 30 minutes before getting in, which is fine but it would've been nice to have someone come out to greet and give a time estimate like the other places. Once I got in, the oil change was mostly as expected. When given the estimated cost for my oil change up front, it was more than $110. I thought that was kind of high, so I asked if maybe I could have a lesser quality of oil to save on cost. The tech went and grabbed the oil cap from my engine compartment and showed it to me, and said they were mandated to put this particular oil in my car. Although the website says that this business offers oil changes, synthetic blend oil changes, and full synthetic oil changes, it apparently didn't cross the tech's mind to offer a conventional or blend oil change instead of full synthetic as a way of saving some money. So away with full synthetic we go. During the oil change, the tech showed me my engine air filter which was a bit dirty next to a brand new one which was white as snow. He said it was $25 extra to change that but he could give me a $5 discount. I said ok. Although the website says every oil change includes inspecting wiper blades, inspecting exterior lighting system, lubricating door hinges, and washing the windshield, these things were not done for my car. I did hear the other tech checking the exterior lights of the car in the other bay though, so maybe it makes a difference which bay you get as far as what services will be performed. Total for my oil change and engine air filter was about $142 and change. Overall, although the convenience of this location is nice, I don't think I will return because it is wasn't a good value, and the service was lacking. Other places do just as good or better of a job, and are willing to offer lesser cost alternative services if asked. I wonder if the tech staff here get paid commission on sales. It felt like I had been upsold multiple times during my visit. The staff was very on top of giving me the things that would increase the bill, but did not do a number of the things that the website says are supposed to be part of every oil change. Maybe because they didn't get to charge extra for that. Also, they did not give me a receipt or invoice before I left, so I don't have a record of the services that were performed. I did receive a text message shortly after leaving, asking if I would be wiling to leave a review. I replied to the text message that I would be willing, but would you please send me a copy of my receipt first, because I didn't get one. It's been about a week, and I never received a response to my request or a receipt. So I guess this is my review. YMMV, but I think based on my experience there are better places to spend your instant oil change money in Jackson.

Started going with Victory Lane after Valvoline tried to sell me a new engine (exaggerating) but it was getting ridiculous. Victory Lane guys are awesome, know their stuff, reasonably priced and friendly. Also make sure you're good to get back on the road without up selling you an engine. 👍

Great experience and friendly staff. The staff have wonderful knowledge about what they do and understand what is needed and how to get me it at the best deal. As well as getting it done as quickly as possible. Devin was the best 10/10 experience.
