Squeak's Car Wash

This is one of the best self-service car wash spots in SoCal. I've been to many, and they’re often poorly maintained, but this one is clean and well-managed, with all the equipment in good working order. I especially appreciate that the car wash bays accept credit cards, which makes things much more convenient. The only downside is that the credit card payment is fixed at $6 for 12 minutes, and you can’t choose a lower amount like $3. However, you can always use cash if you prefer that option.

Excellent easy approach to car washing. $5 gets you 15 minutes which is plenty of time to wash a large vehicle. $3 is 6 minutes, $4 is 8. Easy drive up, simple instructions. They have a foam brush which is fun, and their hose includes a spray-on wax that leaves your car nice and shiney. The coin exchange takes bills and changes them into dollar coins, the machines take both quarters and dollar coins. Ample space to vacuum, and plenty of vending machine choices for towels, and specialty cleaning items.

I have been to many car washes, automated drive through, the booster/fundraiser type, and coin operated. They each have their pros and cons. The coin operated type, as the auto spa is, has the largest variance of experience of the lot (IMhO). When the equipment works well, when it's easy to get into and out of, and when it isn't a buck or two for every minute or two, washing the car can be more fun than chore. At the Auto Spa, as of this writing, you get 15 minutes for $5.00! That's .34¢ a minute 🤯! PLUS, they take quarters and dollar coins, so adding more time or using up your loose change is a flexibility most others do not offer. I've washed my car there between 12 and 15 times now, and the biggest issue I've ever had was a pinhead sized hole in the line to the sprayer (a little irksome, but hardly problematic). A week later I went back, forgot it happened and I was in the same stall. The hole wasn't fixed, the hose was replaced!! I've seen brushes replaced w/ new ones where other places would still consider the old brush new! The soaps, cleaners, waxes that automatically disperse are ALWAYS full and working, rarely the case at many competitors. And the consumables; armor All, drying towels, air fresheners, ect. I've never seen a larger collection, it's priced right, and inventory has never been lacking. The Auto Spa doesn't disappoint, except maybe the other car washes! Do your car right and do it less! I brought a bunch of quarters, but it looks like the take credit and debit cards now too. They also have a coin machine if you bring bills. They have different settings for the wash, and they have another section for vacuuming. It's a nice little cardio exercise because you want to be finished before the timer gets down to zero or you have to add more money for more time.

I feel so relaxed after my monthly treatments at the auto spa. My owner got mad the other day though because he put in $6 and only got 7 minutes of time for my treatment and it was supposed to be 15min for $6. I didn't mind though. The soapy sloppy suds cleaned me right up. Next month I get waxed. I've never been waxed. I hear it may sting a little. Guess I'll find out next month! Yours truly, 1993 Ford Automobile 🚗
